If you haven’t gotten a chance to listen to Foxy Shazam’s newest album, you definitely should. I don’t really love the single, “I Like It.” The lyrics “that’s the biggest black ass I’ve ever seen, and I like it, I like it,” just don’t exactly seem too creative to me. The rest of the album is great though and you should definitely check it out. My favorite song off the album so far is “Last Chance at Love”

So I’ve been a bit neglectful of my blog this weekend. Was quite busy this weekend. Friday I saw Hugo, which I definitely recommend everyone go see. Then I was out and about with some friends. Saturday I had an acoustic band practice, then went to see a friend’s cover band play at a bar. Sunday I worked on my video project for class which ended up taking 6 hours as opposed to the 2 hours we thought it would take. Then had band practice again. I apologize for my neglect.
It seems every time I’ve put my headphones on this weekend I was playing Neon Trees. If you haven’t heard of them (which you should have if you’ve been reading my blog *cough cough*), here’s a few songs off their last album in a Youtube playlist:
Now the reason I’ve been listening to them so much, is that their new album is coming out April 17 and I am so pumped for it! Right after my birthday too Take a listen to their song off the new album:

I first heard of Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s last fall, and I’ve been in love with them ever since. I was at that point where I didn’t feel like listening to anything in my iPod. And I have a lot of music on my iPod, so i don’t even know how that’s possible. I asked a friend of mine to recommend a band, and she recommended this amazing band. The first song I heard by them was “Skeleton Key,” shown below.
When I heard they were releasing a new album soon, I got all giddy inside. Their sound has changed a little bit from their past albums, but I love the direction the band is going in. The album is out March 20th so take a listen below.
Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s are currently on tour. Click here to go to their website and check out when they’ll be in your area.

I hadn’t heard of Ingrid Michaelson until a few weeks ago. She’s been around for a few years, but I heard of her when an awesome girl named Judy recommended her to me. The video below shows a video of Ingrid performing her single off her newest album.
I absolutely love this song, especially this version which is just Ingrid’s piano playing and her vocals. The version on the album has more instruments involved. In this video you could feel the emotion in her voice. Her voice is absolutely beautiful, in fact hauntingly beautiful. Get it? The song is named ‘Ghost.’ I apologize for the horrible joke, won’t happen again. Okay I can’t promise that…
Last month on the 24th, Ingrid Michaelson released her new album Human Again, pictured below. If you haven’t had a chance to listen yet, you need to make time. Click here to go to her website and check out some songs off this album. And once you listen and decide you love it, make sure to purchase it from one of the links on that page.
I’m a little sad because I’d love to see her live sometime soon, but alas, she will not be in New York City until May. If you’d like to see when she’ll be in your area, click here!

I first heard of these guys about a month ago when my band played a show with them in Long Island. Unfortunately, I thought the sound guys didn’t do a great job *cough cough*, because I couldn’t hear the vocals too well. For MAN ON EARTH, you really need to hear the vocals to understand the music. In all music, the melody is important, but their songs have such a great vocal melody that it feels as if something is missing without it. Just the other day I decided to look them up again, and now I can’t stop listening. My favorite song so far is “I’d Be Good For You,” the video shown below.
What I love so much about this band, is that they really know how to write a song. There’s some bands out there where each musician wants to do something complicated to sound cool. MAN ON EARTH doesn’t over-complicate things. The musicians are extremely talents, but know when it’s appropriate to keep it simple and when to amp it up. They know how to make a song where all the instruments fit together amazingly, with an amazing vocal melody spouting out artfully crafted, emotional lyrics.
This past fall they released their newest CD “Things They’d Never Believe.” If you’d like to get a little preview of it before you download, head on over to the music section of their website, where you can stream the album. Make sure to buy it afterwards!
If you like what you hear, make sure to like them on Facebook, and follow them on Twitter. If you’d like to see them live, They’ll be playing at Copperfields in Boston, MA on March 10th, and Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY on March 29th! Check out their website for more info!

What I love more than anything, is people suggesting music to me. This band’s music came to me in the form of a tweet. This band from Mesa, Arizona is pretty damn awesome. If you like Mayday Parade, you will most surely love these guys.

I just heard of this band the other day when they followed me on Twitter. After giving them a listen, I have come to only one conclusion. They are amazing. Think of a mix of Death Cab, The Shins and Band of Horses. Make sure to give them a listen because they fricken rock. If you live in New York City, make sure to go see them play at the Bitter End next Friday.
If you like what you hear, they have their album up for download on Bandcamp!
